Branson is currently working as an independent artist and as co-director of the project based Champloo Dance Company. The focus of his work lies in both dance and film, with its origins rooted in BBoying (breakdance). Self-taught in both these core aspects of his work, his dance style has developed and evolved into what has been described as a unique fusion, at the forefront of the UK’s progressive movement. With core values of expression, accessibility and integrity at the heart of my practice, his most recent works, ‘White Caps’ and ‘Stronger’ are currently touring internationally. The Arts Foundation Chorographic Award was award to him in 2012 in recognition of his professional standing within the art of dance and film. Branson is also a new wave associate artist at Sadler’s Wells where he is developing live theatre-based work, which aims too further the development of BBoying as an expressive, theatrical language as well as push the boundaries of the technology of integrated projection mapping within live performance. Independently he is also working with Champloo Dance Company to continue to explore the context and development of film as a choreographic language. Within this he is looking to produce several sort films over the coming years in preparation for the production of a full-length dance-based film work. He has a strong active interest in the progression of dance film as a form with a specific focus on site-specific work, which has developed out of his academic background as a Physical Geographer (1st Class honors).
